M&A advisory for music companies
Music transactions are shaped by the catalogue boom and the underlying economics of streaming royalties. Major and independent label groups continue to absorb labels, publishers, distribution businesses and rights administration platforms, and sponsor-backed catalogue funds have driven rights valuations through several cycles. Buyers now spend diligence on streaming share by DSP, royalty cost structure and how much of catalogue earnings are durable rather than tied to a single artist cycle.
The active buyer universe is concentrated. Universal Music Group, Sony Music, Warner Music, Concord and Hipgnosis lead label, publishing and catalogue transactions, Spotify is selectively active on tooling and distribution adjacencies, and PE sponsors including KKR, Apollo, Blackstone and Providence Equity continue to back catalogue funds and distribution roll-ups. Flow has direct access into the majors, the independent consolidators and the catalogue-fund sponsors, which is what unlocks the strategic conversations that don't appear on a banker list.
Flow team has relevant sector experience and has worked with music companies across labels and publishing, independent distribution, catalogue and royalty platforms, rights administration software, and artist and creator tools.
