Fractional CFO services in Mexico City
Mexico City is Latin America's second-largest venture ecosystem by deal volume and the only Central American city in the global top 100 startup rankings.
The capital has produced ten unicorns - Kavak ($8.7B), Bitso ($2.2B), Clip ($2B), Konfío ($1.3B), Merama ($1.2B), Stori ($1.2B), NowPorts ($1.1B), Clara ($1B), Incode and Plata - with fintech capturing roughly 40% of all venture dollars deployed annually. Mexico raised $1.8B in startup investment in 2025, ranking second in Latin America.
We work with Mexico City-based startups from seed to Series B+, supporting them on FP&A, financial modelling, investor reporting, fundraise prep, unit economics and cap table management.

Mexico City startup ecosystem
Latin America's leading fintech capital
Mexico City generates roughly 40% of Mexico's venture deal flow and houses the headquarters of every major Mexican unicorn. Kavak, Bitso, Clip, Konfío and Clara were all founded or scaled from the capital. Mexico's fintech market is the most active in Latin America by deal count, driven by a 67% unbanked or underbanked adult population and a regulatory sandbox administered by CNBV.
Fintech, SaaS and B2B marketplace dominate
Fintech leads by investment volume - digital payments (Clip), crypto (Bitso), B2B credit (Konfío, Clara), neobanking (Albo, Plata, Stori) and buy-now-pay-later (Aplazo) all have Mexico City roots. Enterprise SaaS, proptech (Jüsto, Casai), and cross-border logistics (NowPorts, Skydropx) represent the next tier. The presence of Mercado Libre's Mexico operations creates a dense commercial and engineering talent ecosystem.
Polanco, Roma Norte and Reforma corridor
Polanco and the Reforma corridor house the main VC offices and co-working campuses - WeWork Reforma, Regus Polanco and Spaces Insurgentes anchor the north-south axis. Roma Norte and Condesa have become the dense startup neighbourhood, clustering early-stage companies, accelerators and angel networks. Satellite Ciudad de México and Santa Fe are the corporate tech park belt.
UNAM, ITAM and Tec de Monterrey Mexico City campus
UNAM - Latin America's largest university - produces the deepest engineering and computer science pipeline in Mexico. ITAM supplies the quantitative finance and economics talent that feeds fintech founding teams. The Tec de Monterrey campus in Santa Fe provides a direct MBA-to-startup funnel. A large base of former Bain, McKinsey and Goldman Sachs Mexico alumni provides senior operating and CFO talent.

Mexico City startup accountants vs Flow fractional CFO
Most Mexico City startups work with a contaduría firm for SAT compliance, IMSS filings and annual tax returns. That role is legally required - but it is not the same as having a fractional CFO.
SAT tax compliance, IMSS/INFONAVIT payroll, CFDI invoicing and annual audit. The firms most used by Mexico City venture-backed startups.
- Galaz, Yamazaki, Ruiz Urquiza (Deloitte México)
Mexico's largest audit and tax practice. The startup and emerging-growth team handles SAT compliance, transfer pricing and structuring for venture-backed companies scaling from Series A through pre-IPO.
- KPMG México
Big Four presence with a dedicated technology and high-growth companies group. Covers IFRS audit, R&D tax incentives under the Estímulo Fiscal art. 189 LISR regime, and cross-border structuring for Mexican-US dual entities.
- Crowe México
Mid-market firm with a strong VC-backed startup practice. Handles SAT audits, IMSS compliance and founding-team equity structuring. Known for serving early-stage fintech and SaaS companies through their first institutional rounds.
- Mazars México
International mid-tier firm with a Mexico City office covering audit, tax and advisory for high-growth companies. Frequently engaged by founders with European or US investors who require internationally comparable financial statements.
- BDO México
Top-ten firm in Mexico with a growing tech and startup advisory practice. Covers statutory audit, CFDI compliance and employee stock plan structuring - increasingly relevant as more Mexican startups implement option pools ahead of Series A.
Financial modelling, FP&A and fundraise prep. We work alongside your accountant - not instead of them.
- Builds the financial model - revenue assumptions, headcount, unit economics, runway.
- Sets up the monthly FP&A cycle: budget, forecast vs actual, variance analysis.
- Puts together the monthly board pack - P&L, cash, KPIs and forward outlook.
- Prepares the fundraise: investor model, deck financials, data room and diligence prep.
- Keeps the cap table tidy and handles stock option grants and 409A-equivalent valuations.
- Reports on the KPIs that move the business - ARR, gross margin, CAC payback, retention.
- Pressure tests hiring, pricing and big spend decisions against the model before the founder commits.
- Sits in board meetings and is embedded week-to-week, not just engaged annually for compliance.
