Fractional CFO services in Frankfurt

Frankfurt is Europe's banking capital and Germany's most fintech-intensive startup city, with roughly half of all local VC funding directed into the fintech sub-sector.

The city hosts the European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, Deutsche Börse, and more than 200 foreign bank branches - the densest concentration of financial-sector decision-makers in continental Europe, and the most structurally favourable environment on the continent for financial infrastructure, insurtech and regtech founders.

We work with Frankfurt-based startups from seed to Series B+, supporting them on fundraise prep, investor reporting, FP&A, M&A readiness, board packs and financial modelling.

Frankfurt startup ecosystem

What makes Frankfurt's startup ecosystem distinct - its fintech density, geographic clusters and the institutional talent pipeline that feeds its venture scene.

Europe's financial infrastructure capital

Frankfurt hosts the ECB, Deutsche Bundesbank, Deutsche Börse (Xetra), Clearstream and 200+ foreign bank branches. Around half of local VC funding flows to the fintech sub-sector, and the city's $1.5bn startup ecosystem is disproportionately tilted toward financial infrastructure, payments and securities technology.

Fintech, insurtech and cybersecurity anchors

TechQuartier - Frankfurt's primary startup hub - connects 750+ startups with 30+ corporate partners including Commerzbank, ING, Deutsche Börse, Helaba and Deka. The city also has a growing cybersecurity cluster, reflecting the concentration of financial-services data infrastructure that requires enterprise-grade security.

Westend, TechQuartier and the banking district

The Westend financial district houses the corporate venture units and bank innovation labs most relevant to fintech founders - Neosfer (Commerzbank), Deutsche Börse Ventures and the Helaba Digital lab. TechQuartier operates from the Pollux and PalaisQuartier buildings in central Frankfurt as the city's main startup co-location hub.

Goethe University and banking talent pipeline

Goethe University Frankfurt - home of the Goethe-Unibator accelerator - is the primary academic feeder, with a finance faculty that has direct industry linkages. The city's concentration of Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs Frankfurt, DWS and Allianz Global Investors provides a dense secondary pool of senior finance, quantitative and compliance talent.

Frankfurt's active fintech investors

Frankfurt's investment ecosystem is structurally different from Berlin or Munich - dominated by corporate VC arms of the very institutions its startups sell to. These are the most relevant investors for seed-to-Series B founders in the city.

CommerzVentures

CommerzVentures is an independent VC spun out of Commerzbank, headquartered in Frankfurt, managing €550m across three funds. Focus is fintech, insurtech and climate-fintech at Series A and B. Portfolio includes Mambu, Clark and Deposit Solutions.

Neosfer (formerly Main Incubator)

Neosfer is the early-stage investor and innovation unit of Commerzbank, investing €200k–€2m tickets into pre-seed and seed-stage fintech and financial-infrastructure companies. Provides direct access to Commerzbank as a commercial pilot partner and distribution channel.

Deutsche Börse Ventures

Deutsche Börse Ventures invests strategically into capital-markets infrastructure, DeFi, RegTech and data analytics companies. Portfolio companies gain direct access to Deutsche Börse's exchange operations, clearing infrastructure and Clearstream custody network.

TechQuartier Digital Finance Accelerator

TechQuartier runs the Digital Finance Accelerator - a fully funded programme (most recent cohort May 2025) placing 15 international fintech and insurtech startups inside Frankfurt's financial district for direct corporate pilot development with Baker McKenzie, KPMG, ING, Visa and Deka.

Goethe-Unibator

Goethe-Unibator is Goethe University Frankfurt's startup incubator, focused on fintech and enterprise applications. Active since 2009 with 35+ portfolio companies including Fintiba and Savedroid. The primary on-ramp for Goethe University research founders and student entrepreneurs.

Main Capital Partners

Main Capital Partners is a growth-equity firm headquartered in the Netherlands with a significant Frankfurt-based team, focused on B2B SaaS businesses in the DACH region at Series A through buyout. Particularly active in enterprise software with €10m–€100m revenue profiles.
