VC fundraising for software development companies

Pure development services do not raise venture rounds - economics scale with headcount, gross margins sit twenty points below software, and the active capital base is PE. The narrow window for VC is productised services: AI-native delivery platforms, proprietary accelerators, services-plus-tooling hybrids where a software layer carries enough revenue that the blended margin profile starts to look investable.

Honest framing: pure dev services is not a deep venture category. Capital flows to productised and AI-enabled hybrids, and the relevant pool is growth-stage investors with services and tech-enabled services theses - Recognize, BC Partners, Carlyle and other PE growth platforms - alongside strategic and corporate venture arms such as Salesforce Ventures and ServiceNow Ventures for partner-aligned operators, and General Catalyst for AI-services hybrids. Flow has direct relationships with that set, with the caveat that venture appetite here is narrower than for product businesses.

Flow has experience running VC fundraising processes for software development companies across productised engineering services, AI-native development platforms, vertical-specialist dev shops and product engineering businesses with platform IP. Our extensive investor network spans early-stage seed funds, growth-stage investors, and strategic and corporate VC arms.
