VC fundraising for telemedicine & telehealth companies
Telehealth capital has reset substantially from the 2021 peak. Closures at Babylon and Olive, public market compression at Teladoc and Hims, and the rollback of pandemic-era reimbursement parity in several states have narrowed the bands inside which investors will back virtual care. Capital is concentrated in operators with payer or employer contracts, defensible provider supply and condition-specific models that do not rely on indefinite paid acquisition.
The investor mix segments tightly by model. DTC virtual care draws consumer health investors and the funds that backed Hims and Ro; employer and payer-contracted virtual primary care draws healthcare-focused funds like General Catalyst Health, 7wireVentures, Define Ventures and Oxeon; and the payer and benefits CVCs - Optum Ventures, CVS Health Ventures and BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners - engage where the operator already has contracted revenue with their parent or a peer. Flow has direct relationships across this set and targets funds with a recent lead in the matching segment.
Flow has experience running VC fundraising processes for telehealth companies across DTC virtual care brands, employer and payer-contracted virtual primary care, condition-specific virtual specialty clinics, hybrid in-person plus virtual networks and asynchronous prescribing-led platforms. Our extensive investor network spans early-stage seed funds, growth-stage investors, and strategic and corporate VC arms.
